Application of high nickel alloys in chimneys in FGD service

After a short summary of FGD and its effects on various metals and alloys, the paper describes in some detail the "wall-papering" technique of applying thin sheets of high nickel alloy to a carbon steel base. In some cases wall-papering techniques are not appropriate and the paper described clad plate applications and means of reducing the required thickness of expensive solid alloy sections of liner. Cost comparisons (installed and long term) are given between various alloy linings and vinylester coatings.
